French Toast Casserole

I made this wonderful casserole this weekend, I had seen it a while ago online, and had saved it to try. I am glad I did, it was so very delicious, I am not surprised though, the recipe comes from this lady. One of my favorites, from the Food Network. So here we go.....

French Toast Casserole

1 loaf of  thick sliced bread (cubed)
8 eggs
2 cups cream
1 cup milk
2 teaspoons cinnamon
2 teaspoons vanilla
2 Tablespoons sugar
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg

Praline

1 cup butter
1 cup brown sugar
1 cup chopped nuts (pecans, walnuts, almonds )
2 tablespoons maple syrup
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg

Cube up the bread. Butter a 13x 9 dish. Add the bread. Mix eggs, cream, milk, sugar, spices together. Pour over the bread cubes. With a spoon squish down the bread, so it absorbs the liquid.

Next make the Praline topping, mix all the ingredients together, and sprinkle over the top of the bread.
Place the baking dish on top of a cookie sheet,( this I learned the hard way). Bake @ 180º/350º for about 40 minutes. Serve with some icing sugar.

ENJOY :)
