Oreo Truffles

These are divine! When you bite into the crisp shell there is a soft rich chocolatey centre. So good. Everyone loves them and there is never any left on the plate. Perfect for the Christmas season ! I have yet to make them with a boozy filling, but I imagine, a bit of baileys or frangelico would be just wonderful !

Ingredients:

1 package (8 oz) cream cheese, softened
36  Oreo's
200g chocolate + 1 tablespoon crisco

sprinkles

Directions:

Place the Oreo's in the bowl of your food processor and chop until finely crumbled. Pour Oreo crumbs into a medium bowl. Add in cream cheese and mix until well combined. Or add cream cheese to the food processor, and pulse. Place  wax paper on a cookie sheet. Scoop out Oreo dough and roll a 1 inch ball of the mixture, setting it on the wax paper. Continue until all the Oreo mixture is used up. You'll have at least 3 dozen depending on the size. Place cookie sheet in refrigerator for at least 15 minutes, longer is better. *If you are in a hurry, you can skip that step, but the chocolate may not coat the Oreo as well.

Once the Oreo is chilled, melt the chocolate in a sauce pan or in the microwave. Be careful not to burn the chocolate. Roll the Oreo balls into the chocolate and set back on the cookie sheet. While chocolate is still semi "wet", add sprinkles on top. Chill and enjoy!!

****HOW TO MELT CHOCOLATE Place chocolate in microwaveable bowl. Microwave on HIGH 2-1/2 min. or until chocolate is completely melted, stirring every 30 sec.

****HOW TO EASILY DIP TRUFFLES To easily coat truffles with the melted chocolate, add truffles, in batches, to bowl of melted chocolate. Use 2 forks to roll truffles in chocolate until evenly coated. Remove truffles with forks, letting excess chocolate drip back into bowl. Place truffles on prepared baking sheet; let stand until firm.

**** 2 plastic forks, with the middle prongs removed work fantastic !

  1. It is easier to coat the trufles with a toothpick. Love Tânia
